ChòpnBlọk takeover

February 19, 2026 05:00 PM until February 21, 2026 09:00 PM

James Beard Award semifinalist Chef Ope Amosu is bringing the culture and the Nigerian flavor from Houston to Aspen and Mawa's Kitchen on February 19, 20 & 21. For these three nights, Mawa's Kitchen will transform into MICHELIN Bib Gourmand-awarded ChòpnBlọk with Chef Ope at the helm, Suya spice in hand. This four-course, family style meal will feature his signature, and heavily lauded contemporary approach to Nigerian recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. "The delight of ChòpnBlok is in its sure sense of self, its lively, multidimensional cooking and clear, delicious vision for modern food from the Black diaspora,” boasted the review from The New York Times, which earned Chef Ope's restaurant a spot on the Times' 50 Best list. "It's not unusual to look around the dining room and see someone dancing in their seat after taking there first bite, wiggling around, snapping their fingers. How good to be reminded a bowl can be filled with anything, even joy."
