I have a very guilty secret: I watch Millionaire Matchmaker on Bravo. Only sometimes though. Please don’t tell anybody. It’s a totally crazy, but at the same time very addicting, show that makes you feel either better or worse about yourself, there’s no in-between or happy medium. One girl that got picked by the millionaire for a grand date showed up dressed 100% like a call girl in a short skirt and with her boobs popping out and the guy was totally impressed by the way she looked. I went shopping the other day and bought this amazing vintage outfit: ankle length skirt and blouse, very classy and elegant. After watching the show I have been thinking about this outfit. Well, certainly it wouldn’t attract that guy. The only time my outfits attract men is when the men are gay. One time I wore my so-called ‘hooker dress’ (it was still very elegant, but also very short) and that was the only time I felt a lot of eyes on me. But I didn’t feel like myself. It’s the same as when you’re drinking wine, not the wine you like, but the one everybody else tells you to drink.
The good thing about choosing my clothes and wine is that I stay truth to myself. I know exactly what I like.
I went to Santa Fe last week for a Wine and Chile fiesta to pour wines for some events. Of course, trips like that involve a lot of drinking. After long day a few of us went to eat at a very laid back local bistro. We sat at the bar and, of course, little miss Wine Snob (that would be me) couldn’t find anything she wanted to drink by the glass. Fortunately we sat next to the owner of the bistro who wanted to impress me and we ended up drinking Lucie et Auguste Lignier Morey-Saint-Denis Les Sionnières 2005.
I wasn’t totally blown away (it’s extremely hard to please me with wine choices), but I was happy to drink a lovely red burgundy. It is village level, but a really elegant and lovely wine made by a really elegant and lovely woman, Kellen Lignier. The wine is named after the winemaker’s two children, Lucie and Auguste. Kellen was the wife of famous wine maker Romain Lignier of the domaine Hubert Lignier and took up the reins after he passed away. The wine maintained a perfect attitude between the fruit, the minerals and the acidity, and it won’t cost you. For me it was a great ending to a very full day. Honestly, good food, good wine and the great company of some old friends – life can only get a little bit better than that! After that bottle I felt little bit tipsy since the whole day had been wine, wine, and more wine. I remember talking to the owner of the bistro and he was telling me that I have an angelic look about me. Oh dear, if he only knew…
You know, I would never be able to wear a dress that doesn’t represent who I am. Does that mean I will never meet the right guy? I hope that’s not the case. Now I have to find an occasion to wear my vintage outfit. I look a little bit like librarian in it, but a librarian can be sexy too. I will spicy it up somehow and will go out on the town drinking red burgundy. Angelic it is…
Cheers, Vilma
